The Veterans Collective Begins Lease Up for its First Permanent Supportive Housing on West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs North Campus

Veterans to Begin Moving into New Housing in January 2023

Los Angeles, CA – The Veterans Collective (TVC) is proud to announce that it has started the resident leasing process for its first permanent supportive housing units on the West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs North Campus. Veterans are expected to begin moving into TVC’s 60 new units, which will focus on formerly homeless and at-risk seniors, in early 2023.

“TVC is making great strides in transforming the North Campus into the country’s largest supportive housing community for homeless and at-risk Veterans,” said Tyler Monroe from TVC. “With the lease up of Building 207 underway, we look forward to welcoming Veterans into their new homes in January. TVC has embarked on an ambitious project, and we’re thrilled to be one step closer to our goal of eradicating Veteran homelessness and providing our nation’s heroes with the community and resources they deserve.”

In partnership with the VA, TVC is receiving referrals for units in Building 207. Referrals can be made through the VA Transitional Housing, SSVF and HUD/VASH Programs, Veterans’ current HUD/VASH Case Managers or the West LA VA Welcome Center at Building 257 on the North Campus. The VA has established a call center number available at 310-268-3350 from 7:30am – 4:00pm Monday through Friday for same day access to emergency and temporary housing.

Building 207 is the first of more than 20 planned Veteran housing buildings set to be developed on the North Campus by TVC.

Senator Dianne Feinstein and Representative Ted Lieu played instrumental roles, helping to secure funding for campus upgrades through the West LA Improvements Act and support of the PACT Act.

“I’m very excited that 60 new long-term supportive housing units will soon be available for homeless veterans at the West LA VA campus. Bringing these housing units online – the first of many in 2023 – has been a multi-year process, but a worthwhile one,” said Senator Feinstein. “Los Angeles is home to more homeless veterans than any other city and we must do all we can to help this vulnerable population. I look forward to continuing my work with federal, state and local stakeholders to build on this momentum and increase housing options for homeless veterans at West LA VA.”

“We want to offer every homeless Veteran a place they can call home. Nationally, VA has reduced homeless among Veterans by more than half since 2010. Now, with hundreds of new units of permanent housing becoming available to Veterans both through community-based projects and housing created on the grounds of the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, we can build on that progress,” notes John Kuhn, Acting Deputy Medical Center Director for the Greater Los Angeles VA Healthcare System.

 Once complete, the more than 70-acre North Campus will provide 1,200 units of housing for more than 3,000 Veterans and their families and serve as a thriving, sustainable community featuring modernized infrastructure, restored historic buildings, a Town Center, supportive services, and enterprise programs.
