TVC Applauds President’s Plan for More Homeless Veteran Housing at West LA VA

President Trump signed an executive order on May 9, 2025, to create a center for homeless veterans on the West Los Angeles VA campus, which will offer homeless veterans housing, healthcare and support services, including substance abuse treatment and job training. The goal of the center, which he named the National Center for Warrior Independence, is to house 6,000 veterans on the property by 2028.

The Veterans Collective enthusiastically applauds President Trump’s plan for a national center for homeless Veterans on the West LA VA campus. We support any initiative that will provide safe and supportive housing for Veterans who bravely served our country. We agree with the White House: Our heroes deserve better.

The Veterans Collective is hard at work to make President Trump’s goals a reality. Our current plan will deliver a thriving Veteran community on the West LA VA campus, with at least 1,200 new units of housing, with critical support services, by the end of the president’s term. That plan includes a Center for Moral and Spiritual Injury to be housed in the renovated Wadsworth Chapel on campus.

We look forward to welcoming President Trump to the campus soon. With more than 1,000 Veterans already living on campus today, it would be a wonderful opportunity for them to meet with the Commander-in-Chief. He would also be the first president to see our progress.

Thanks to our partners at the federal, state and local levels, and our generous philanthropic donors, The Veterans Collective has already raised more than $1 billion for this project, which will soon be the largest Veteran housing development in the United States.

In fact, The Veterans Collective just received another $105 million in tax-exempt bond financing along with low-income housing tax credits that will be used to deliver more than 250 additional units of housing and kickstart the construction of a Veteran-informed Town Center.

Every Veteran deserves access to quality housing and comprehensive support services, and we are poised to deliver for a president who shares the same vision. We look forward to working with the VA, White House and our partners to make that vision a reality.
